HLF – Day 4
The day started earlier. At 8:00 we had to be al the conference center, all participants did a visit to local companies or research centers related to math or computer science.
I went to SAP at Waldorf, their headquarters looks like a mini city, they have even a hotel inside for people that come by for a few days. We were welcomed by a HR executive, that introduced us to the programs that SAP offers to people interested in working with them. Later Sarah, who did her PhD at SAP explained to us how SAP research works, how it is connected to universities and what a researcher can do at SAP. Later we did a tour on the SAP Inspiration Pavilion that shows a little bit of the past (SAP past, data past) and of how SAP see the future. It was a very good and interesting visit.
From the SAP headquarters, we went to a boat trip, we travelled a bit on the Neckar river. In this little trip, we could see the beautiful landscape from the region and that history is a something important but it is not the only wonder they have in Heidelberg. During the trip, we were able to talk and connect a lot with other young researchers and also with the Laureates and guests. After three days of a lot of thinking and brain activities, today we had a more relaxed day.
